Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Ascue

Your form sends its normal notification email. The plugin waits at most 4 seconds for Ascue, and anything other than a clear "accepted" answer means your form handles the message exactly as it would without Ascue.
No. There is no CAPTCHA and no extra step. Visitors see your form's normal success message. In the worst case, when Ascue is unreachable, submitting takes up to 4 seconds longer.
Ascue emails them to the inbox address set for your site in the Ascue dashboard, with the visitor as Reply-To. Held pitches and spam are listed in your dashboard and weekly digest, and you can release any of them with one click.
Only the notification to you, the site owner: Contact Form 7: the Mail template. Mail (2) still goes out. WPForms: notifications whose Send To is an address. Notifications sent to a form field or {user_email} still go out. Gravity Forms: notifications whose Send To is an address or routing. Notifications sent to a form field still go out. Elementor Pro: the Email action. Email 2 and all other actions still run.
Yes. Untick the form plugins you want to leave alone in Settings → Ascue.
Ascue notices a burst of spam and switches on attack protection: the bot's addresses and copies of what it sends are blocked on sight, and you get one email saying so. Blocked messages don't use your monthly checks and never reach your inbox; they wait in your dashboard's spam folder for 30 days. Ascue never blocks an address that sent you a real message in the last day, so a visitor sharing an office or mobile network with a bot still gets through.
No. If the same message arrives twice within a day (a double click, or a bot sending it again), Ascue reuses its first answer without using a check. Messages its quick checks catch, such as ones full of links or sent by a script, are free too.
Ascue also works with any form on any platform through email forwarding: point your form's notification email at your private Ascue address. See ascue.dev/docs.
No. It keeps only the status of the latest message (time, form plugin and whether Ascue accepted it) so the settings page can show it. Your form plugin stores entries as it always has.
