Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about BaraTables

CSV files, manual data, WordPress content, external MySQL/MariaDB databases, and snapshots from public CSV, JSON, or Google Sheets URLs. Remote snapshots are manual and administrator-only: save the public HTTPS URL and format, click Fetch snapshot, and published tables use the stored snapshot without contacting the source. Endpoints must return text/csv or application/csv; text/plain is rejected. Authentication, private Sheets, scheduled refresh, and schema changes are not supported; re-create the table when remote columns change.
Use a TablePress single-table JSON export; Ninja Tables classic and drag-and-drop JSON also work (export an externally connected Ninja table as CSV). WP Table Builder, Visualizer, Supsystic, League Table, wpDataTables, and Tablesome exports import too, as do HTML tables; a ZIP imports the first supported table. Imports rebuild table data and compatible display settings, not styling, formulas, macros, shortcodes, charts, or external connections. XLSX and ODS formulas use cached results and are never executed; save legacy XLS or encrypted workbooks in a current format first. Uploads are capped at 5 MB; a ZIP holds 50 entries of 5 MB each.
Tables load 1,000 rows by default; the Options tab sets a limit from 1 to 10,000 on every source. External MySQL/MariaDB tables can instead opt into large database performance mode: at most 100 rows per request, paged, sorted, and searched by the database within a 100,000-result limit. It requires selected columns, pagination, and a non-null single-column primary or unique key; access rules, transforms, filters, footers, exports, print, and charts keep standard loading. Database search follows the source collation.
Yes. Filtering or searching updates the page address, so you can share the view, or build it with btbl_filter[column-slug], btbl_search, and btbl_search_cols.
Create a table first, then go to Charts and create a chart linked to it, embedded with [bara_chart id="your-chart-slug"].
Yes. The Design tab (charts get one too) styles tables without code: presets, colors, typography, spacing, and a per-chart palette, each live in the preview as you type. Styles print as CSS custom properties, so your theme keeps what you leave blank.
Choose Number in a column's settings: plain decimals such as -12.5 join numeric sorting, conditional styles, and footers, while currency symbols, percentages, grouped numbers, words, blanks, and out-of-range values stay visible but are excluded. Footers calculate every loaded row matching the current search and filters, not only the current page; rows beyond the row limit and exports are excluded.
Yes. Minimal frontend styles keep your theme in control; adjust colors, spacing, and typography with your theme, the Site Editor, or custom CSS. The Design tab writes its choices as --btbl-* custom properties on .btbl-table-wrapper -- a stable API for themes: set them globally to re-skin every table, or copy the generated block with Copy CSS and manage it in your theme via the "Theme CSS" output mode. Tokens cover header, stripe, hover, border, footer, conditional, and chart colors, type, padding, and radius. The Design tab also takes per-table Additional CSS.
