Your choice. Automatic offsetting purchases from the carbon offset or carbon removal project portfolio you select in your CarbonGuru account's Offset preferences — CarbonGuru's catalog covers both offsets and removals — and you can change your selection at any time. Every offset purchase is made against the portfolio you have chosen at that moment.

The carbon footprint always shows. Everything else is opt-in, off by default, and configured by you in WooCommerce → CarbonGuru → Display: the offset or removal price, the other option's price, the estimated climate impact in dollars, product category details and a "how this was calculated" link in a more-info tooltip, and the carbon portfolio you support. You can also choose to show the footprint badge on cart and checkout line items, and whether shoppers see the order's offset card after checkout. Prices are never shown unless you choose to show them.

Yes. Add the CarbonGuru Footprint block (or the [cgmof_footprint ref="SKU"] shortcode) wherever the product is offered and set the product's SKU — for a subscription with monthly and annual variations, the variation's SKU. The tile shows that product's footprint; once automatic offsetting is on it adds "offset at purchase", and every paid order — including each subscription renewal — is offset the way the rest of your store's orders are.

Your choice, in your CarbonGuru account under automatic offsetting. Per order (the default): each paid order is charged to your saved card and offset as it is paid, one offset purchase per customer order. Daily: the day's orders are summed and settled once at 03:00 UTC — one charge and one offset purchase for that day, one round-up instead of one per order. Every customer order still appears in your CarbonGuru order list with its own footprint, and each links to that day's certificate. Daily applies to carbon offsets; carbon removals are settled per order. If a daily charge fails three days running, automatic offsetting pauses and you are told here, in your account, and by email; fix the card, switch it back on, and the outstanding orders settle at the next run. The settings page in WooCommerce → CarbonGuru shows which mode you are on.

No. Offsetting is merchant-settled: purchases are billed to the payment method saved in your CarbonGuru account. Your shoppers never see a charge, a fee, or a payment surface; the only thing they can see in the cart or at checkout is a read-only footprint badge on each line, and only if you turn it on.

Each product is individually analyzed by CarbonGuru from your actual product data — not estimated from order totals or category averages. You review every footprint before switching a product on; nothing displays and nothing is offset until you do.

Yes. In WooCommerce → CarbonGuru → Display, tick "Show a footprint tile under each product on shop, category, tag and search pages". Each product in the grid then carries its own tile (classic themes and block themes alike). Tiles render only for products you have switched on, and listing pages are never analyzed as products themselves.

Two things only: it renders the footprint card on product pages for products you've switched on (plus, if you turn them on, footprint tiles on shop pages and a footprint on cart and checkout line items), and it reports paid orders to your CarbonGuru account. It never changes your cart or checkout behaviour, sets no cookies for your shoppers, and sends no customer personal data.

Yes — block and classic themes. You can choose where the card renders relative to the add-to-cart button in the plugin settings.

WordPress 6.0+, WooCommerce 8.0+, PHP 7.4+, and a CarbonGuru account on the Plus plan or higher. Stores in any currency are supported: your products are analysed at your own prices for your store's country, and CarbonGuru charges you in US dollars. Single-site installs only — network activation is unsupported.
