You can sign up for a free API key at Fixer.io. Note that the free plan has limitations, such as a base currency of EUR and limited API requests.
The base currency is determined by your Fixer.io API plan. The free plan only supports EUR as the base currency. To use other base currencies, you need to upgrade to a paid plan.
Exchange rates are updated twice daily using a WordPress cron job. You can manually trigger an update by saving the API key or waiting for the next scheduled update.
Currently, the plugin is designed for use in the WordPress admin dashboard. However, you can extend it to display exchange rates or a currency converter on the front end with custom development.
