No. Defer Forms for Contact Form 7 sits on top of CF7. CF7 must be installed and active.
No. Existing CF7 shortcodes keep rendering exactly as before. Defer Forms features are opt-in per form.
Only if you switch on a notification destination and give it a token or a URL of your own. Nothing leaves your site otherwise — there is no telemetry, no licence check and no remote asset. See "External services" below.
Go to Defer Forms → Forms and either open an existing CF7 form or start a new one — either way you land in the drag-and-drop builder. Add fields from the panel on the left, drag them into the order you want, and Save. The result is still a normal Contact Form 7 form; its shortcode works anywhere CF7's own does.
Add a Page Break field wherever a new step should start. Each step can have its own title, description and CSS class — open the settings on the page break to set them. A step indicator above the form shows visitors their progress automatically.
Open the field's settings in the builder and add a condition under Conditional Logic — for example, show a field only when a checkbox is ticked or a dropdown has a specific value. Conditions can be combined with AND/OR, and the front end applies them live as the visitor fills the form in.
Drag fields into a Grid row in the builder and choose 1 to 4 columns. The layout is responsive, so it collapses to a single column on a narrow screen without any extra setup.
Every submission is stored under Defer Forms → Submissions, with search, filters and a CSV export button. Opening an entry lets you reply to it directly, and mark it Replied or Done so the list works like an inbox rather than a growing log.
Contact Form 7 does not keep uploaded files on its own — Defer Forms does. A file attached to a submission is stored with that entry and can be downloaded from it, until the entry is deleted or the retention period under Settings removes it.
Under Defer Forms → Notifications, turn on Telegram, Slack, Discord or a webhook of your own and fill in its details. Each one is off until you switch it on, and there is a "Send a test message" button to check your credentials before relying on it. Spam is never sent to any destination.
