Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Dev Limits – Server Limits Manager

No. Dev Limits is read-only by design. It shows you the exact snippet to increase a limit, but you apply it yourself — unless you explicitly enable Configure (write) mode.
Open Snippets, choose your workload profile, and copy the snippet for your server stack (.user.ini, .htaccess, nginx.conf, etc.). The Dashboard confirms the new value once your host applies it.
Some hosts cap limits at the server level, ignore .htaccess php_value lines (common on FastCGI / PHP-FPM), or require a restart. Use Hosting Detection to see which methods work on your stack. Export a diagnostics report and share it with your host if needed.
Yes. Each site stores its own profile and settings. The uninstall routine cleans up every site on the network.
No. Dev Limits collects nothing, sends nothing, and makes no external requests. All analysis happens locally on your site.
Yes. Dedicated workload profiles and Site Health checks help confirm your server is ready for WooCommerce stores and Elementor page builders.
Yes. Dev Limits ships a service container plus documented actions and filters so add-ons can register new metrics, profiles, snippet formats, and admin pages.
Only if you explicitly opt in. Configure (write) mode can apply selected limits to wp-config.php, .htaccess, or .user.ini. It always creates a backup first, validates before saving, rolls back on failure, and logs every action. Hosts can disable write mode by defining DEV_LIMITS_ALLOW_WRITE as false.
