DeepSeek is a separate, optional provider with its own API key from https://platform.deepseek.com; you only need one of the two to use the plugin.

Yes. OAuth and MCP require HTTPS in production. The MCP Connection screen warns you if your site is not served over HTTPS.

Most likely the client cannot run the OAuth 2.1 flow and is calling the endpoint with no credentials at all. On the MCP Connection screen, generate an API key and add it to that client as an Authorization: Bearer dsk_… request header (an X-API-Key header works too). If the client offers no way to set headers, enable "accept an API key passed in the URL" on the same screen and use the ready-made link it shows instead. Claude.ai does not need a key — it negotiates its own credentials through OAuth.
