Invalid submissions preserve the previous word-limit pair while other valid checklist edits are saved. Empty content passes a maximum-only requirement. Both limits count readable saved content using the same PHP semantics: shortcode tags, HTML tags/comments, and script/style contents are excluded; HTML 4 entities are decoded; Unicode letter/number sequences with internal apostrophes or hyphens are counted. Adjacent HTML elements do not add spaces. The live checklist follows this behavior, which may differ from the editor's native word count; PHP validation remains authoritative. These checks update from the post content and contribute to the same Ready / Incomplete status as required manual checklist items.
