What keeps it down: every translated sentence and block is kept in the translation memory, so a post saved again, a retry, or Translate All Posts only sends what changed. Editing a glossary term forgets only the saved translations that contain that term. Changing the model, the translation style or the Additional Instructions forgets them all, so the next run translates everything again. "Force Re-translate All" skips the memory on purpose and is the most expensive action. "Use OpenAI's Batch API" halves the price of automatic translations, which then take up to 24 hours. To cap spending whatever happens, set a monthly budget on the project of your API key in your OpenAI account.

It's retried automatically up to twice with an increasing delay. After 10 total failures for the same post on the same destination, the plugin stops retrying and marks it "abandoned" in the Status tab; hover the cell to see the last error. It is tried again when the source post is edited and saved, with "Translate now" in the editor or on its row of the Status tab, or with Status → Retry → Abandoned. A rate limit or a service that does not answer is waited for instead: retried after 1 and 3 minutes, then every 10 minutes (or when OpenAI says the limit resets), without counting as a failure; the Status tab shows the next try, and the API tab shows your OpenAI limits. If the error comes from the translation service (key, credit, model, or 5 failures in a row), translations are paused instead and resume when you save the API configuration or click "Resume translations".
