Install and activate Finzo Product Search, then press Rebuild on the Finzo Search screen. The Theme search box search type is on by default, so the search fields your theme already has start showing live results. To place a search box anywhere else, use the [finzo_search] shortcode.
Yes. Live search, the product index, SKU and variation search, typo tolerance, synonyms, redirects, field weights, the result card, design settings and the Query tester are all free, with no account and no licence. Finzo Premium is an optional paid build that adds Spotlight search, mobile search, filters, add to cart, merchandising, search analytics and more index sources.
Finzo recognises standard WordPress and WooCommerce search fields, including the search block and search forms that themes add to headers, menus and sidebars. If your theme opens search in its own popup, Hide the theme's own search popup keeps that popup from showing behind the results. You can also place a search box anywhere with the [finzo_search] shortcode.
Yes. The SKU is indexed for every product and, with Product variations switched on, for every variation. Raise the SKU and model number weight under Relevance → Sources & indexing if your customers mostly search by part number, then press Rebuild.
Yes. Typo tolerance absorbs a wrong, extra or missing letter in words of five or more letters, and Suggest closest alternatives shows the closest products when nothing matches exactly. For misspellings you see often, add a synonym such as jumpr = jumper.
Yes. Field weights decide how much a match in the title, SKU, categories, tags and short description counts, and the sales popularity and in-stock priority signals separate products that match equally well. The Query tester shows the resulting score for each product. Finzo Premium adds merchandising rules to pin, boost or hide specific products for a particular search.
No. Finzo Product Search searches WooCommerce products and their variations only.
Searching does not. Every query runs against your own database, and no search term, product or visitor detail ever leaves your server. The plugin does bundle Freemius, which handles licensing and the optional paid build. It contacts freemius.com when you opt in to sharing site data, when the pricing screen is opened, and when a licence is activated or checked. See External Services below for exactly what is sent and when. Declining the opt-in leaves the plugin fully working.
This plugin does not record searches at all. Query recording is part of Finzo Premium; where it is available it stores only the search text, a count and the number of results - never IP addresses, user IDs or cookies.
Search assets are small and load with a deferred script tag by default. Queries run against a dedicated index table rather than post meta. Normal queries are narrowed by a FULLTEXT index first and only the matching rows are scored, which on a 20,000-product catalogue measured roughly six to ten times faster than scanning every row. Queries the index cannot express — a typo, or a match inside the middle of a word — fall back to a full scan of the index table, so they still return the right products but take longer. If your server is old enough that it cannot create a FULLTEXT index, or the table is not InnoDB, the plugin detects that and uses the scan for everything. Nothing breaks; searches are just slower on very large catalogues.
