TL;DR

AI summary of the plugin's readme

Footnotes Made Easy is for WordPress post authors and site administrators who need footnotes in their content, including multisite network admins. It solves the problem of manually numbering, linking, and formatting footnotes by letting authors wrap text in double parentheses to auto-generate numbered, linked footnotes displayed at the bottom of posts and pages.

  • Simple inline double-parentheses syntax
  • Combines identical footnotes automatically
  • Paginated post support with start number
  • Reference previous footnote by number
  • Tooltip display on hover via jQuery
  • Suppress footnotes on page types
  • Multisite support with network or per-subsite modes
  • Compatible with Classic Editor and Gutenberg
