CSV, TSV and Excel .xlsx (first worksheet). Old .xls files need to be saved as .xlsx or .csv first.

Give every row of the same product the same value in a column matched to "Parent" (for example the parent SKU or a Shopify handle). Put each variation's options in a column matched to "Variation", written as Color: Red; Size: M, or map separate option columns to "Variation option". A sample file is linked on the import screen.

No. When you click Import products, the plugin first lists every product that is already in your store (same SKU, same source link, or the same name when there is no SKU) and every product that appears twice in the import. Remove any of them with the × button, or keep them: kept products update the existing ones, or are skipped if "Update products that already have the same SKU" is off. Variations are matched by SKU or attribute values.

Your file is read on your own server, and the plugin only downloads the image URLs contained in it. Licensing runs through Freemius, which receives basic site data only if you opt in. See "External services" for details and for the Pro features.
