Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ThumbPress – Compress Images, Manage Thumbnails, Detect Image Issues, WebP/AVIF, Lazy Loading, Hotlinking & More

No. The Disable Thumbnails module only prevents new thumbnails from being generated on future uploads. Your existing files stay untouched unless you manually delete them. You can regenerate thumbnails based on the sizes you have picked.

It’s a one-way process. Conversion replaces the original file, so keep a backup first. It typically reduces image size without visible quality loss, and there’s rarely a need to switch back to heavier formats from WebP.

Yes, both Professional and Agency plans let you use it on multiple sites. Visit the Pricing page to view multi-site license options.

Yes. ThumbPress works with WooCommerce, Elementor, Divi, and most major WordPress themes and plugins.

In most cases the difference isn’t visible. WebP and AVIF are lossy formats, and compression in ThumbPress Pro uses a quality level you choose, so you control the trade-off between file size and quality.

WebP is a widely supported modern image format that reduces file sizes compared to JPG and PNG. AVIF is the next generation — it compresses even further with equal or better quality. Both are supported by major browsers and recommended for WordPress performance.

No, you can convert individual images to AVIF in the free version. Bulk conversion across your entire media library requires ThumbPress Pro.

No. ThumbPress CDN storage is included with your ThumbPress Pro license — up to 100 GB depending on your plan. You connect from the ThumbPress dashboard, the nearest region is selected for you, and offloading starts — no third-party CDN signup, no API keys, no DNS changes. Storage allowances per plan are listed on the Pricing page.

Yes. Product, variation, and gallery images are served from the CDN, and responsive srcset URLs are rewritten too, so every image size loads from the edge.

Yes. Keeping local copies is the default, but you can turn it off so the local file is removed once the CDN copy is confirmed. You can put local copies back at any time before disconnecting.
