Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Maxooh

They stay. The pages Maxooh created remain published, in your theme, exactly as they were. Uninstalling removes the plugin's own settings, its post metadata and its scheduled tasks, but never a page, never a post, never a media file. You simply stop receiving new content.
Yes, if an administrator allows it. When an administrator approves Maxooh's access to the site with a WordPress application password, Maxooh can use that access to install this plugin from WordPress.org, activate it and connect it to your account, so there is no code to copy. Nothing is installed without that approval. You can revoke the access at any time from your WordPress profile (Users > Profile > Application Passwords). Revoking it does not remove the plugin or your pages, and does not disconnect the plugin: use the Disconnect button on the Maxooh screen for that.
No. The plugin only writes to posts that carry its own identifier, which means posts Maxooh created. A page you wrote is invisible to it, including your home page, which Maxooh never publishes to. One case is handled on purpose: pages Maxooh published on your site before the plugin was installed, through the WordPress REST API and an application password. So that they are not created a second time, or left online when Maxooh removes them, Maxooh asks the plugin to take them over, and proves it with a fingerprint of the content it wrote. A page that still matches is then updated like any Maxooh page. A page you edited since is locked: Maxooh never changes it, never unpublishes it, and lists it as "modified locally"; only you can unlock it from the admin screen. A page you put in the trash stays there and is not created again. A page that already carries a Maxooh identifier is never taken over.
Yes. Maxooh is a paid subscription service and this plugin is only the bridge to it. On its own the plugin does nothing: there is no free mode, no trial mode and no standalone feature.
The plugin stops updating it. On every write it stores a fingerprint of the content it published; before the next update it recomputes that fingerprint from
reported as "modified locally" in both the WordPress screen and your Maxooh dashboard, and nothing is overwritten. You can also lock a page permanently from the admin screen.
Yoast SEO, Rank Math and SEOPress are detected automatically and their fields
written safely the plugin says so on its status screen rather than guessing. If no SEO plugin is installed, Maxooh outputs the title, description, canonical and robots tags itself, on its own pages only. The site is behind a firewall and Maxooh says it cannot reach it. Then the plugin fetches its content itself, every 15 minutes, and also each time you open its admin screen. Nothing needs to be opened in your firewall.
Not unless you ask it to. Visit counting is off by default, and pairing does not turn it on: it starts only if an administrator ticks "Compter les visites des pages Maxooh pour votre tableau de bord Maxooh" on the Maxooh admin screen, and stops as soon as the box is unticked or the site is disconnected. Even then, only the published pages created by Maxooh report a visit, and only three values: the page's slug, the domain of the referring site, and a random identifier that lasts as long as the browser tab. No cookie, no IP address, no advertising identifier, no third-party script. Logged-in users and browsers sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted. Your other pages never load the script and never report anything. Separately, when a visitor fills in and submits a Maxooh quote form, what they typed is delivered to your Maxooh inbox. See "External services" above.
