Yes, from 1.7.9. isitagentready.com requests / with Accept: text/markdown and expects Content-Type: text/markdown. A “Your latest posts” front page is not a singular post, so older versions correctly left it as HTML. 1.7.9 serves a Markdown listing of that index (same posts and order as the HTML homepage, including Simple Custom Post Order). You do not need a static front page.

That check is content negotiation on the homepage, not the REST endpoint or <link rel="alternate"> tags. Those can all work while the scan still fails. Also check Cloudflare: a managed Bot Fight challenge returns 403 HTML (Just a moment…) to the scanner. Bypass cache when Accept contains text/markdown, or skip the challenge for that scan — otherwise origin PHP never negotiates.
