Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Modular DS: Monitor, update, and backup multiple websites

Modular DS is a modern, all-in-one platform for managing multiple WordPress websites from a single dashboard, helping you save time and work more efficiently. Key features include: One-click login to all your WordPress sites. Bulk updates and management for plugins, themes, and WordPress core. Safe updates and Update Copilot. Smart automated updates with conditional rules. Site migration, cloning, and staging environments. Backups and one-click restores. Uptime monitoring. Vulnerability and malware scanning. Broken link checker. Database optimization. Pre-maintenance and white-label client reports. MCP server for AI workflows. Check out our features page for details.

Modular DS covers the same core features as these platforms (bulk updates, backups, uptime monitoring, security) and adds a few things that set it apart: Smart update automation + Update Copilot: most tools in this space (ManageWP, MainWP, WP Umbrella, InfiniteWP, WP Remote) just let you schedule updates for a set date and time. Modular DS gives you AI-powered risk insights before applying updates and lets you automate them with smart conditional rules for more granular control. For example, you can set a safe update to run immediately when a vulnerability is detected, or hold it back when the Update Copilot risk score is high. Reports that help you sell and retain clients: few platforms build reporting specifically around winning new maintenance clients. Modular DS does, with features like pre-maintenance reports. Support and usability: we’ve placed strong emphasis on building a seamless user experience so you can manage all your sites in the simplest, most intuitive way possible. Modular DS also stands out for its friendly and responsive support, delivered by a dedicated team that’s always there when you need them, something our users love and consistently highlight in their reviews. Active development: the platform is continuously evolving, with frequent updates, improvements, and new features based on user feedback released regularly. Fully hosted: unlike self-hosted options such as MainWP or InfiniteWP, Modular DS requires no server of your own, no complex setup, and no extra plugins to install. Everything in one fixed-price plan: instead of per-site pricing like WP Umbrella, or paid add-ons for core features like ManageWP, both of which can get unpredictable and expensive as your site portfolio grows, Modular DS bundles everything into fixed-price subscriptions with flexible overage for when you exceed your base limits of sites, users, or storage.

Modular DS includes a complete backup system to keep your WordPress sites safe and recoverable at all times: Create automatic or on-demand backups whenever you need them. Choose between full or incremental backups depending on how much data you want to save. Full or partial restoration: Easily restore entire sites or specific parts, such as files or the database, directly from Modular DS. Backups are GDPR-compliant and securely hosted on cloud servers. Retention ranges from 60 to 90 days, depending on your Modular DS plan.

Modular DS offers a 14-day free trial and subscription plans for different business sizes. Every plan includes core features at a fixed price, with monthly or annual billing options, and flexible overage, which means you can exceed your base limits and pay for the additional usage monthly. For more details, visit our pricing page.

No, Modular DS works independently of your hosting provider. You can connect and manage websites hosted anywhere.

Yes, it is. Modular DS uses the OAuth2 protocol to securely authenticate the connection between your website and our servers. This protocol generates tokens that expire and can be revoked at any time. We never store your WordPress user passwords, ensuring your login credentials remain private and under your control.

The Modular Connector plugin links your WordPress installation with Modular DS, enabling secure communication between both systems. It allows actions like plugin updates, backup scheduling, and other maintenance tasks to be triggered from the Modular DS dashboard.

Yes, Modular DS has an MCP server that connects your account to any MCP-compatible AI agent, so you can check on and manage your WordPress sites in natural language, from the same conversation you already work in. Learn more about our MCP on this page.

Yes. Our public API lets you build your own integrations and automations on top of Modular DS.
