Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Nooz
Nooz adds a dedicated press room to your WordPress site. It creates two custom post types — Press Releases and Press Coverage — along with a structured settings panel and a [nooz] shortcode for displaying lists of either on any page. It also auto-generates the pages your news section needs on first activation.
Yes. Press releases and press coverage are registered as standard WordPress custom post types, so they use your theme's existing post and page template by default. The plugin also includes its own built-in display template for the shortcode list views, which can be customized with CSS if needed.
Generally yes — the [nooz] shortcode can be placed inside any shortcode-compatible block or widget, which most page builders support. The individual press release and coverage post types use your theme's standard templates, so they display however your theme renders a single post page.
Yes. You can place multiple [nooz] shortcodes on the same page with different attributes. For example, your main news page might show [nooz type="release" count="5"] and [nooz type="coverage" count="3"] side by side, each with its own settings.
Nooz automatically structures each press release with a dateline (location + date), the release body, a boilerplate, a media contact section, and an ending mark. All of these elements are configurable — you set your defaults in Settings and they apply to every release automatically. You can also override certain settings on a per-release basis.
Press Coverage is for logging media placements — articles, podcast appearances, TV segments, and other third-party mentions about your organization. Each item links out to the original source. You can add the publication name, a date, an excerpt, and a featured image (such as a publication logo). Coverage items sort newest-first by default and open in a new tab.
Deactivating the plugin leaves all your press release and coverage posts and settings intact — nothing is deleted. Uninstalling (deleting) the plugin will remove the plugin files, but your post content and settings stored in the WordPress database are preserved by default, so your data is safe if you reinstall later.
Multisite has not been extensively tested. The plugin is developed within the standard WordPress API, so it should function on most Multisite setups, but full compatibility is not guaranteed. If you encounter issues, please let us know.
Nooz is translation-ready. Check the nooz/languages folder inside the plugin to see if a translation for your locale is already included. If not, a .pot file is available that you can use to create a new translation. Read more about WordPress Localization.
