Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about OneTap WebP Converter

If the "Backup originals" setting is enabled (the default), a .orig copy of each original file is kept and can be restored later with the "Restore Originals" button. If backup is disabled, originals are permanently deleted after a successful conversion.

If "Rewrite post content" is enabled (the default), the plugin searches your post/page content for the old JPG/PNG URLs and replaces them with the new WebP URLs. URLs stored elsewhere (widgets, theme options, custom fields, some page builders) are not automatically updated.

The plugin checks for Imagick or GD with WebP support. If neither is available, an admin notice is shown with clear instructions. The plugin will still activate.

No. The original file is replaced by the WebP file at the same path (with the .webp extension), so your Media Library does not end up with duplicate entries per image.
