Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Popmatic – Block Editor Popup, Modal & Lightbox Builder

No. You build the popup with the same blocks and design controls you already use for pages, and every setting is a toggle, a dropdown or a slider in the block sidebar.
Set the Popup block's Open Trigger to On Click (or On Hover) and type a class name into Anchor Trigger Class, without the leading dot - for example open-offer. Then select your button or link, open its Advanced panel and add the same class to Additional CSS class(es). Any element carrying that class will open the popup.
Yes. Set the Popup block to open On Click, place it in the center, and keep the background overlay and Disable Body Scroll on. The result behaves as a modal dialog: it opens from your button or link, keeps keyboard focus inside while it is open, and can close with the close button, a click outside, or the Escape key.
Yes, for single images and videos. Put an Image or Video block inside the Popup Content area, set the trigger to On Click, and add the anchor trigger class to the thumbnail, button or link that should open it. The background overlay dims the page behind it. Each Popup block is one lightbox - Popmatic does not turn a gallery into a slideshow.
Pick a pattern from the Announcements category in the pattern picker, or start blank. Use the On Load trigger with a short delay, and for a less interruptive notice choose a top or bottom position and turn the background overlay off. With Popmatic Pro you can schedule the announcement to start and end on its own.
Add the Popup block in the Site Editor, inside a template or a template part such as the header or footer. It will then be available everywhere that template is used, rather than on a single post. With Popmatic Pro you can also exclude specific pages from a site-wide popup.
Yes. The Popup Content area accepts any blocks your site has, including form blocks provided by other plugins. Popmatic handles the popup; your form plugin handles the form.
By default, every time its trigger fires. Turn on Disable for Returning Visitors to show it only once per visitor. The record is stored in that visitor's own browser using localStorage - nothing is stored on your server and no personal data is collected. To show it again on a repeating schedule, such as every 3 days or every 12 hours, use the display interval settings in Popmatic Pro. I set the popup to show once and now I cannot see it while I build the site. That is your own browser remembering it. Open the site in a private or incognito window, or clear your browser's site data for the site, and the popup will appear again.
Yes, with Popmatic Pro. Show Popup For lets you target all visitors, logged-in users, logged-out users, or specific user roles chosen from the roles on your site. The rule is applied on the server, so the popup is never sent to visitors outside the group.
Yes, with Popmatic Pro. Set a start and end date and time and the popup appears and disappears on its own, in your site's timezone.
