Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Instructor Cockpit for LearnDash

Yes, LearnDash LMS. It does not require the separate "Instructor Role" add-on (only included in the paid LearnDash Elite plan) - Instructor Cockpit creates and manages its own "Instructor" user role (wdm_instructor) itself. If you already use "Instructor Role", Instructor Cockpit works alongside it without any changes.

Instructor Cockpit is a separate, focused interface built around the tasks instructors do every day: structuring courses, managing participants and following learning progress. It runs alongside "Instructor Role" and does not replace or modify it, so you can try it without changing your existing setup.

At yoursite.com/instructor-cockpit/ once the plugin is active. The URL is currently not configurable.

Users with the "Instructor" role (wdm_instructor) and administrators. Students and subscribers do not see it.

Essay and assignment grading, dashboard widgets for open assignments and recent essays, full user management including course and group enrollment, a Groups tab, and a Design & Branding page. Course browsing, the structure editor, participant management and user lookup are all part of the free plugin. Learn more about Pro.

The dashboard title and the "Edit in WP Admin" link text can be changed under Settings > Instructor Cockpit. The Pro add-on also lets you set the site title, favicon, logos and LearnDash accent colors.

It uses the standard WordPress user data already on your site (name, email, role) and records each login's timestamp (as last_login user meta) to show participant activity. No data is sent to third parties.

Nothing for "Instructor Role" - it's optional, and Instructor Cockpit creates and maintains its own "Instructor" role independently, so deactivating it (or never installing it at all) doesn't affect instructor access. "Two-Factor" is also optional: without it, the two-factor setup on the "Edit Profile" page simply does not appear.

It is a React single-page app served through this plugin's REST API. The uncompiled source is linked under "Source code" in the description.
