Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Smart Image SEO – Auto Alt Text Generator & Bulk Image Optimizer

Yes! Over 20% of Google searches come from Google Images. Properly optimized alt text, titles, and descriptions help your images rank higher in both regular search and Google Images, driving more organic traffic to your site.

Absolutely! The plugin helps ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, EAA (European Accessibility Act), ADA, and Section 508 standards by automatically generating meaningful alt text for all images.

The plugin only updates attributes you haven't manually set, or when you specifically run the bulk updater. You have complete control - existing manual alt text and titles are preserved unless you choose to overwrite them.

Yes! The "Test Bulk Updater" feature processes only a few sample images so you can verify the results before running it on your entire media library.

Yes! The plugin works at the WordPress media attachment level, so it's compatible with all themes, page builders, and e-commerce plugins that use WordPress's standard media system.

The plugin automatically detects and integrates with Yoast SEO, RankMath, All-in-One SEO, and SEOPress. It extracts focus keywords from these plugins and can automatically include them in your generated alt text for better SEO optimization.

By default, the plugin respects existing alt text and won't overwrite it. However, you can choose to update all attributes (including existing ones) when using the bulk updater.

Yes! The plugin includes extensive transformation options to remove or convert hyphens, underscores, numbers, special characters, and more. You can fine-tune the output to match your specific needs.

No! The plugin is extremely lightweight and only processes images during upload or when you manually run the bulk updater. There's no impact on your site's front-end performance.

While AI can be great, filename-based alt text offers several advantages: it's instant (no API calls), free, works offline, and gives you complete control over the output. For many use cases, descriptive filenames provide more accurate and relevant alt text than AI interpretation.
