Since version 1.7.0, payment screenshots are stored privately in wp-content/uploads/upiwc-private/ under randomly generated file names, not in the Media Library, because they can show the customer's bank details. Only users who can edit WooCommerce orders can open them, from the link in the order notes. The folder is protected by server access rules (.htaccess / web.config); on Nginx, also deny web access to that folder in your server configuration. Screenshots uploaded before 1.7.0 stay in the Media Library and are no longer publicly listed. On Nginx, add this to your server configuration and reload: location ^~ /wp-content/uploads/upiwc-private/ { deny all; } What if you forget the Nginx rule? Nothing is enumerated or leaked: new screenshots have unguessable 24-character names, their file URLs are not exposed anywhere (they never appear in the REST API, attachment pages, or order notes), and directory listing is disabled by default on Nginx. The rule only adds hard-blocked direct access on top. Screenshots uploaded before 1.7.0 keep their original public file URLs (see the FAQ above), so they remain reachable if someone already knows the URL.
