Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about UsageRay – See Where Plugins Are Used

No. It reports evidence and uncertainty. It never claims that absence of visible usage makes deletion safe.
No. UsageRay is read-only.
No. Opening an individual or bulk Deactivation Preflight never changes plugin state. Only after an administrator explicitly confirms does UsageRay submit the reviewed action to WordPress's normal nonce-protected deactivation handler.
No. It means an exact maintained planning rule identifies a comparable replacement component. UsageRay does not convert or copy that component. Use the replacement plugin's supported import or recreation tools and verify every location.
They record the workspace owner's judgment about each baseline item. Pending means work remains, Migrated means the administrator says it was recreated or imported, Intentionally retired means it is no longer needed, and Blocked records that help or a decision is required. Saving a status or note never changes site content or plugin state and is not proof that migration succeeded.
On the Installed Plugins screen, select the active plugins, choose “Review deactivation with UsageRay” from Bulk actions, and select Apply. UsageRay scans only that selection and presents a separate risk and evidence panel for every plugin.
Yes. You can cancel a manual site-wide audit or Deactivation Preflight while it is running. If the page reloads during an unfinished manual audit, UsageRay resumes it automatically. Manual progress expires after one hour. Temporary scheduled-audit progress may remain for up to two days so a low-traffic site can continue the bounded scan.
Yes, but only after an administrator explicitly enables Daily or Weekly scheduling in Tools > UsageRay. Scheduling uses WordPress cron, which runs when the site receives traffic, so times are approximate. It uses no external service, does not track the site, never changes plugin state or content, and can be turned off at any time.
Yes. Run wp usageray audit for a site-wide audit or wp usageray inspect plugin-slug for one installed plugin. A complete basename such as plugin-directory/plugin-file.php also works. Add --format=json or --format=csv for machine-readable output and --quiet to hide interactive progress. These commands do not deactivate plugins or change content.
UsageRay reuses a completed preflight for up to 10 minutes when you select Deactivate again for the same plugin. The result says when it was completed and provides a "Run a fresh preflight" link.
