Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Walkercorp Sentinelle – Security, Firewall & Hide Login

No. Walkercorp Sentinelle works on your own site, with no account.
No plugin can. The attack happens while PHP reads the request, before WordPress starts. Only updating PHP (8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, 8.5.12 or later) and restarting PHP fixes it. Walkercorp Sentinelle detects the problem, tells you clearly and gives you the message to send to your host.
The protections are designed for bots and attacks: missing images, logged-in team members and verified search engines (Google, Bing, Apple, DuckDuckGo) are not counted, and social network link previews are allowed. Developers can adjust every threshold with the walkercorp_sentinelle_limits filter.
Add the following line to wp-config.php: it pauses the firewall, login protection and the custom login URL until you remove it. You can then log in at wp-login.php as usual. define( 'WALKERCORP_SENTINELLE_DISABLE_HARDENING', true );
Go to Walkercorp Sentinelle, then Login & Access. In "Custom login address (hide login)", type the address you want and click Enable. The new address is shown on screen and sent to you by email. If your host caches pages, exclude this address from the cache.
Logins and failed logins on existing accounts, changes to users and roles, plugins, themes and WordPress updates, published or deleted content, important site settings and, with WooCommerce, deleted orders, refunds and payment settings changes. Failed logins on usernames that do not exist are bot traffic: they are shown in the threat log instead.
Because blocked attacks are normal on any website: bots try SQL injections and other tricks all day long, and they are stopped before reaching WordPress. Emailing each one only creates noise. Walkercorp Sentinelle emails you when you need to act, and the weekly report (or the daily digest) lists the most serious attacks with what was attempted, where and from which address. You can still turn on "Also alert on each serious blocked attack" in Settings.
No. It only writes a line when something happens (a login, a change), never on ordinary page views, and old events are deleted automatically every night.
It can be activated on individual sites of a network, but network-wide activation is not supported yet. The custom login URL is not available on multisite.
