Theme files are backed up before every change, and broken PHP is refused before it is saved. Pages have revisions you can restore. Deletions show you what they would remove and wait. And every change is logged, so you can see what happened and when. Even with all that, keep a third party backup in place. It is good practice on any client site, with or without this plugin, in case of a fatal error.

No. That is the point. It works on the site as it is, whatever it was built with and whenever it was built. There is nothing to migrate and nothing to move. Install it and the site you already have can be run by AI.
