Yes. Site Assistant depends on the Core AI Client, Abilities, and Connectors APIs introduced in WordPress 7.0.

Start with Google Gemini (free key from Google AI Studio). Paste it under Site Assistant → Settings → Connectors, or the full WordPress Connectors screen. OpenAI, Anthropic, and other registered providers are optional.

Yes. WordPress 7.0 includes a Google connector. Create a free Gemini API key in Google AI Studio, paste it under Connectors, then chat. Google’s free tier has usage limits and may change. A paid OpenAI or Anthropic key is optional if you prefer those models.

Destructive or write actions are proposed in chat and require your Confirm (and may require admin approval for restricted users). Keep Write actions enabled only if you want that workflow.

Settings → Developer shows Coming soon in this release. MCP Server, MCP Client, and plugin bridges will ship in a future update.

The browser Speech Recognition API requires HTTPS (or localhost). On Local WP, enable SSL and open wp-admin over https://.
