No. Imganva SEO Images only processes images at the moment they are uploaded. It never scans your existing media library or modifies images that are already there.

JPG, JPEG, and PNG. All other formats — including SVG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, PDF, HEIC, PSD, and videos — are left untouched.

The plugin detects WebP support automatically on the Server Status section of the settings page. If neither Imagick nor GD can produce WebP on your server, the original image is kept and the upload completes normally. Nothing is broken.

Keep Original leaves the uploaded file on disk and generates the WebP alongside it. WordPress continues to point to the original file. The WebP is available for server-level content negotiation or CDN use. Replace Original deletes the original file after conversion and updates WordPress to point to the new WebP file. Use this if you want WebP everywhere and have no need to retain the source file.

Yes. Title, Alt Text, Caption, and Description can each be toggled on or off independently in the settings page.

The plugin removes the file extension, replaces hyphens and underscores with spaces, collapses duplicate spaces, trims whitespace, and converts the result to Title Case. A file named best-image-compressor-online-2026.jpg becomes Best Image Compressor Online 2026.

The plugin has not been explicitly tested on WordPress multisite. Settings are stored per site using the standard WordPress Options API, so basic functionality should work, but multisite is not officially supported in version 1.

WebP conversion adds a small amount of processing time per upload depending on your server's image engine and the size of the uploaded file. For typical web images this is negligible. Metadata generation adds virtually no measurable overhead.
