Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Ordnerwerk – Medienordner für die Mediathek

No. Folders are virtual (a hierarchical taxonomy on attachments). Files, file names and URLs never change.

The folder and its subfolders are removed. The media items inside are not deleted; they appear under "Unassigned".

Media and posts stay untouched. Galleries and slideshows created from a folder turn into regular WordPress galleries showing the last saved images. Folder assignments are kept in the database so that nothing is lost if you reactivate the plugin later.

Yes. The folder tree is available in the WordPress media modal ("Add Media", "Create Gallery", "Add to Gallery" and the block editor media picker).

Uploads in the media library while a folder is open, and uploads via "Upload files" in the media modal while a folder is selected in its folder tree. Files uploaded directly inside a block (for example the "Upload" button of the image block) and uploads under "All media" or "Unassigned" are not assigned; you can drag them into a folder afterwards.

Both the block editor and the classic editor.

No. All scripts, styles and images ship with the plugin.
