Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Omea Analytics

Not without consent. With a visitor's explicit Statistics consent (Omea Consent or a WP Consent API plugin), the server sets a first-party HttpOnly cookie omea_vid holding a random ID, to recognise returning visitors. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy; then the plugin never sets cookies.
No. The IP address is used only on your server, for the location lookup and the daily visit hash, and is never stored. User agents are reduced to device type, OS and browser family.
They will be close but not identical: Omea filters bots before storing anything, counts visitors without consent cookielessly (a returning visitor without consent counts again the next day), and isn't blocked by most ad blockers because it runs on your own domain.
Pageviews are counted by the browser tracker, so bots that don't run JavaScript never appear. Crawlers, scripts, automated browsers and vulnerability scanners that do are filtered out before anything is stored. Settings › Tracking shows how many were filtered.
Yes: Cloudflare is detected automatically, and other proxies' X-Forwarded-For headers are read safely. If your host uses a different header, pick it in Settings › Advanced › Visitor IP header; the checklist warns when it looks wrong.
Exclude omea-tracker from "delay JavaScript" features. For WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, Perfmatters and FlyingPress the plugin adds the exclusion automatically; the checklist tells you if something else blocks tracking.
Cleanup and the minute-by-minute storing of hits run with WordPress' scheduler (WP-Cron), which only runs when someone visits the site. On a quiet site, or if WP-Cron is disabled, set up a real cron job that calls wp-cron.php (for example every 5 minutes) – most hosts offer this in their control panel.
Yes. Settings › Tracking includes an option to skip tracking for administrators.
Every screen, the dashboard and the email report are translatable on translate.wordpress.org, and numbers and dates follow your language. On multilingual sites (Polylang, or WPML) the dashboard gets a Languages report, the Popular posts block lists posts in the page's language (optionally ranking a post by the views of all its translations), and the email report is sent in each recipient's language.
